Learning platform or Learning Management System (LMS)

    In

Klaipeda I told you about the pros and cons of LMS. Vaidas has asked me to write a post on the weblog as an opening to a discussion about this subject. In my opinion LMS is a good tool for learning different aspects of digital literacy. LMS is a system where you can combine learning the curriculum within a subject and how to use a computer program. Within the LMS the teacher is the boss of his/her room. Within this room the teacher decides what features that are necessary to have. If the students are not used to working with digital tools, the room can be quite simple. Then, when the students develop their digital skills, the room can be developed as well with new features. In addition, the LMS is a way to show the underlying structure in computers, LMS have folders and files like a computer but it is a safer environment for the students to explore this structure. There are of course elements with this tool that are not so good, and that should be discussed here. In

    Klaipeda
, there was not enough time to discuss and explore this tool.

LMS is one of the things that we have to explore in this project this is written in the project application. The question now is how this can be integrated in our project. The things that should be discussed are practical use, how can this be a tool that can help our students? Which LMS shall we choose? Shall we have a free LMS like Moodl or shall we pay for one? How will we solve the technical issues regarding integrating a LMS to the project website? These are some of the questions that have to be discussed, and there will probably come some other questions and views during the discussion. I am hoping that you will join this discussion and that the blog activity will increase.

Looking forward to seeing you all in

    Greece!

    Best wishes, Kari Anne
